The mission of Hope for the Warriors™ is to enhance quality of life for US Service Members and their families nationwide who have been adversely affected by injuries or death in the line of duty. Hope for the Warriors™ actively seeks to ensure that the sacrifices of wounded and fallen warriors and their families are never forgotten nor their needs unmet, particularly with regard to the short and long-term care of the severely injured.
OPERATION GET FIT
On Saturday April 24, 2010, I will be spending the day teaching fitness classes at Ying Yang Yoga Center in Olney, Maryland. Alicia and Raul Cuervo, owners of the center, have graciously offered to put on a fundraising event in their space to benefit Hope for the Warriors.
Together we will honor our nation’s warriors that have been severely wounded by participating in fitness classes that celebrate movement. I will be teaching comprehensive 90 minute fitness classes that will be open to people of all ages and abilities.
I encourage everyone to come out and participate in a class. I am offering a 9:30 AM class and an 11:00 AM class. After these classes fill up, I will open another section in the afternoon.
The classes will focus on functional movements that improve overall strength, muscular endurance, balance, flexibility, and core strength/stability. All movements can be done without the use of any equipment and can be done anywhere.
The exercise segment will be approximately 60 minutes per class. The other 30 minutes will be dedicated to teaching you how to incorporate these skills into your life as well as answering any fitness related questions that you may have.
After the morning classes, Yin Yang Yoga Center will be holding a cook-out lunch also to benefit Hope for The Warriors. Please check back frequently for details.
A minimum donation of $25 will reserve your seat in a class.
